2912 FUND RAISER

The Pueblo Railway Foundation in keeping with its Mission Statement, "To Operate, Preserve & Display Railroad Equipment and History", is embarking on a Fund Raising Program to cosmetically restore our Santa Fe Steam Locomotive # 2912. Wasatch Railroad Contractures of Cheyenne, Wyoming has given a bid of $250,000.00 to do the job. Number 2912 is on the State Register of Historic Properties that qualifies the restoration project for State Historic Funds. We were interviewed by Ms. Erika Warzel of the Colorado Historical Society in July of this year and she thought this is a good project. The Museum is in need of $60,000.00 for matching funds. We are taking donations that apply to the sides and ends of the locomotive. We made a 3/4" scale drawing of the unit and numbered squares. We picked out 'Special' areas and assigned special prices ranging from $10.00 for each square up to $1,000.00 for the 'Special' squares. The 2912 will be restored to look just like she did when she was rolled out of the Baldwin Locomotive Works plant in 1944. The restored locomotive will be displayed behind the Pueblo Union Depot. Donations should be sent to the address below:
