D.O.T #001 -U30C
 

D.O.T.#001 GE U30C - this large loco, formerly owned by the federal government and used at the famous "test track" near Pueblo, is  painted red, white and blue.   The 3000 horsepower U30C was a successful locomotive with over 600 units sold and delivered by General Electric between 1966 and 1976.  Most of these powerful locos have been scrapped.  A few remain in museums.  Only a unit at the Illinois Railroad Museum is known to still operate.  A few were exported and their current fate is not known.
